Alaa Al Zarafi, the Co-Vice Chair of WPC-YPC and the President of the National Young Professionals Committee in the Sultanate of Oman, is an experienced Reservoir Navigation Engineer, at Baker Hughes. He started his career with Schlumberger-SIS as a Well Placement Engineer back in 2014. He has an extensive background in geosteering, directional drilling technologies and remote operations coming from supporting real time operations across different regions around the world over the last 9 years. Alaa holds a bachelor degree in geoscience with a minor in chemistry from Sultan Qaboos University. On top of that, he is also serving as the Young Professionals Chairperson and Student chapters’ liaison at the Society of Petroleum Engineers, and as a technical advisor at the Higher Research Council in Oman.
