Jon Elkind

Jonathan Elkind is a Senior Research Scholar at Columbia University’s Center on Global Energy Policy. His career has centered on international and domestic policy responses to climate change and the clean energy transition, with experience in both the public and private sectors. From 2009 to 2014, he worked at the U.S. Department of Energy, his last position being Assistant Secretary for International Affairs. Earlier in his career, he created Eastlink Consulting, advising major corporate players on large infrastructure projects. He also worked at the Brookings Institution, the Joint Global Change Research Institute, the U.S. National Security Council, the Office of the Vice President of the United States, and the Council on Environmental Quality. Elkind serves as a director for Infineon Technologies LLC and as a senior advisor to Project Associates, a London-headquartered consultancy. He holds an MBA from the University of Maryland, an MA from Columbia University, and an AB from the University of Michigan.
