Milton Catelin is the Secretary General of the International Gas Union. He has also led the World Coal Association as Chief Executive (2005-2014), worked within the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and was a lead negotiator for Australia on both climate change and ozone protection.  He has been directly engaged in other international treaties on mercury and hazardous wastes.  He has been a Member of the International Energy Agency (IEA) Coal Industry Advisory Board, the Board Selection Panel of the Global Carbon Capture & Storage Institute, the Governing Board of the Gasification Technologies & Research Council of India, the World Economic Forum (WEF) Global Agenda Council on De-Carbonising Energy (and previously on Energy Security), and the Advisory Committee to the SaskPower CCS Global Consortium (Canada). Prior to his international work, Mr. Catelin worked for the Australian Department of Prime Minister & Cabinet, Department of Finance & Administration, and Department of Environment & Heritage.  Mr. Catelin holds a Masters Degree in Public Policy (ANU 1990) and has received awards for his work in energy and environment from Australia (2001), the USA (2003), the United Nations (2007), and Poland (2013). In 2014 he received an ADVANCE Global Australian Award for the Mining and Resources Sector.
