Sylvia Anjos

Sylvia Anjos graduated in Geology from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro in 1978. Obtained her master degree from the University of Illinois in 1984 and her PhD in 1987. She has more than 40 years of experience in O&G industry . In 1979 she started working at PETROBRAS as onsite geologist, then more than 20 years in PETROBRAS Research Center as projects leader. Sylvia then started a very successful managerial career in technology development at CENPES, then in Exploration when Pre-salt was discovered. She was the technology leader of the Libra joint Consortium and business advisor in PETROBRAS G&E. Sylvia advised more than 2 dozens of Master and PHD thesis more than 300 publications . Sylvia was speaker and Chair of various National and International conferences . She was recipient of 2 awards from ABGP in recognition for the development of sedimentology and stratigraphy and its application in the exploration of Pre-salt, respectively. In 2017, she was the first in Brazil to receive the AAPG Award for the development of petroleum geosciences in Brasil. She is founded member of ABGP (Brazilian Association of Petroleum Geologist) in 1998. She was ABGP president for 2 terms and is Executive Director for international affairs and events. She was vice-president of AAPG Latin America (2017-2018). Since 2018 is a member and co-founder of the Diversity Committee of IBP, the Brazilian Petroleum Institute. She retired and worked for 2 years as executive directors of Malach Consulting and Services, IN may 2023 she returned to Petrobras as CEO consulting and assistant.
